Wildlife Management & Conservation

In January each year the EcoSpatial team run a 5-day GIS short course for students studying the MSc in Wildlife Management & Conservation, the MSc in Species Identification & Survey Skills and the the MSc in Plant Diversity at the University of Reading.
This specialist course introduces the fundamental principles and techniques of GIS and, most importantly, summarises its potential applications in ecology and conservation through a series of case studies and worked examples. The course has been designed to give the students a comprehensive ‘step-by-step’ introduction to the industry standard GIS software package, ESRI’s ArcGIS™, and to equip them with the technical skills and expertise required to start incorporating the use of GIS into their ecological research and practical conservation activities.
